Ballaghaderreen FC achieve the FAI Club Mark

Congratulations to Ballaghaderreen FC for achieving The FAI Club Mark Entry Level Award.
5th Mar 2020

Ballaghaderreen Soccer Club was founded in 1967 and for a large number of years struggled to find a home for the Club. In 2008, a Committee was formed known as The Community Park Committee and thanks to their hard work and dedication they developed and build the Community Park which is now the home of Ballaghaderreen Football Club.

It currently has two full-size pitches, a walking track, an astro pitch and a Club House which has four dressing rooms, a referees room, meeting room and kitchen to cater for all the club and Community needs.

The Club currently caters for both Boys and Girls and have 220 underage kids, 50 Junior members and 30 volunteers which all make up the Club. Our current teams take part in Roscommon and District League, Roscommon School Boys League and Midwestern Girls League.

Ballaghaderreen FC are the first Club in Roscommon to recieve this Award. Part of the process is to ensure all Coaches, Managers and Committee members are Garda Vetted and have all attended Child Welfare Course. All of the teams now have a qualified Coach with them.

A special thanks goes to Adrian Carberry, FAI Devolopment Officer in Rocommon who worked hard to ensure the Club achieved this Award.

This gives parents the assurance and peace of mind that all kids in the Club are in safe hands.

The FAI Club Mark is an award for grassroots clubs based on best practice in the governance, management and administration of a football club.

Clubs start their journey at Entry Level and can progress onto the One Star Award. Each step challenges the club to implement policies and procedures in line with best practice.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

· Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’

· Establish and promote best practice

· Empower and support clubs

· Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards

· Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
