Sporting Fingal had too much for Athlone Town at Morton Stadium as they eased their way past the midlanders and into the FAI Ford Cup quarter finals.

It took just eleven minutes for the hosts to go in front. Kieran Reilly conceded possession under pressure from Shaun Williams and the ball went to the one man that Athlone wouldn’t have wanted to see free - Alan Kirby.

FAI Ford Cup holders held scoreless at Oriel

Dundalk   0 - 0   Bohemians

FAI Ford Cup holders Bohemians were held to a 0-0 draw by Dundalk on Friday to secure a replay of this fourth round fixture.

Oriel Park was buzzing from start to finish as both sides kept the tempo high and scrapped for every ball as they tried to take control of the game.

Bohs keeper Brian Murphy was called into action early on when Michael McGowan tried his luck for The Lilywhites.

Then the visitors cranked up the pressure with Paddy Madden having a goal ruled out for offside before Gary Deegan blasted just wide.

Guntars Silagailis gave City a fifth-minute lead when he directed Danny Murphy’s cross beyond Richard Brush at the near post.
