League Centres

Girls League Centres:

The aim of the League centres is to provide a local opportunity for the best players within a league to train together in a structured environment with licensed coaches under the criteria laid down by the FAI.  The league centre provides the first step on the Elite Player pathway with the best players from each centre then feeding in to our Regional Emerging talent centres.

In 2010, we had 18 league centres take part in this new Programme.  On the June Bank Holiday an U14's Inter-league competition took place in NUI Galway and was a fantastic spectacle of football.  The quality of football on display over the course of the competition was a joy to watch with Inishowen League eventually triumphing as overall winners beating the Waterford league in a thrilling final.  In the Plate Competition the NDSL League were victorious in the final, coming out on top against the Tipperary League.

It is envisaged that in 2011/12 we will have 21 Leagues holding their own League centre.  As a result, the Inter-league Competition will also expand to include U16's.  The U14's competition will take place on the June Bank holiday weekend (1st-4th) and the U16's competition on the last weekend in June (28th-30th)
