The charitable organisation, run by volunteers, is the largest of its kind in the country and recently launched its Annual Appeal for donations to help families and individuals in need.

FAI CEO John Delaney visited the Society's depot on Sean McDermott Street in Dublin to hand over a number of special Republic of Ireland New Balance gift bags, which were full with jerseys, footballs, books, and other merchandise.

Ireland Under 16 head coach Paul Osam and Women's U16 head coach Sharon Boyle were also present to meet Liam Casey, East Region President for St Vincent De Paul, as well as a number of volunteers helping to sort through the various donations.

"At this time of the year, it is extremely important to help others wherever you can and that is exactly why the FAI approached St Vincent De Paul to do what we could to make a small difference," said Delaney.

"It was fantastic to meet Liam Casey and the volunteers to see the work that they are doing, which is incredibly worthwhile and will truly lift the spirits of a family in need this Christmas.

"We are delighted to have been able to donate the special Ireland gift bags and we would like to continue working with St Vincent De Paul to support the excellent work that they do every day."
