Under-16 squad named for Portugal double-header
Republic of Ireland Under-16 squad Head Coach John Morling has named his 18-player squad for the double-header away to Portugal on January 17 and 19.
The first game is scheduled for the Estádio Municipal das Caldas da Rainha on Tuesday, January 17 (3pm) with the second two days later at the Estádio Municipal da Nazaré (11am).
So far this season, the Under-16s have played games against Latvia, Estonia, Sunderland and Leeds United.
These pair of matches, however, will be the most challenging for the squad, according to Morling.
"They will be two brilliant games for our lads to play in because Portugal always produce technically excellent teams," he said.
"We've brought in a few newcomers for this double-header and they will be given their chance to impress during the games."
Following these assignments, Morling has one further set of fixtures for the group at this level.
He will take two squads, A and B, to Belgium for two double-headers on 17 and 19 April.
