Republic of Ireland to take on Turkey at Aviva Stadium on May 25

The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that it has signed contracts with the Turkish Football Federation to play a Three international friendly match in Aviva Stadium on May 25.

The match will be preceded by the FAI Umbro Junior Cup final in association with Aviva, repeating last year's very successful format.

The Republic of Ireland has faced Turkey 12 times in its history, recording five wins, six draws and one defeat. Irish fans will recall the 1999 heartache of playing Turkey in the play offs for EURO 2000, starting with a 1-1 draw in Lansdowne Road and ending in a 0-0 draw in Bursa, allowing Turkey to go through on the away goals rule at the expense of Mick McCarthy's men.

The match will form part of Martin O'Neill's preparations for the EURO2016 campaign starting with a friendly on March 5 against Serbia followed by Turkey on May 25. A number of other end of season friendly options are currently being explored and details will be confirmed as soon as they are finalised.

Tickets for the Serbia match (Aviva Stadium, March 5) are currently on sale from €20 for adults and €10 for children.

Tickets for the Turkey match (Aviva Stadium, May 25) will also be priced from €20 for adults and €10 for children and will also give the holder access to the FAI Umbro Junior Cup final in association with Aviva. A ticket launch date for these matches will be announced before the end of this month.
