There was encouraging news this morning for Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni when John O'Shea, Keith Fahey and Kevin Foley all participated in the squad's training session at Gannon Park in Malahide.
The trio had all missed training earlier in the week due to knocks but those appear to be easing as they took part in the workout.
Paul McShane, called up from the standby list for Saturday's Three International friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Aviva Stadium, was also involved in the session.
Sean St Ledger and Richard Dunne sat out training, as did Glenn Whelan. The Stoke City midfielder is suffering with a sore throat and is expected to be available for Saturday's friendly.
Shay Given will not feature at the weekend, but the specialist in London has been in contact with the Republic of Ireland medical team and agrees with their diagnosis and recovery management plan. Shay is expected to return to full training on Wednesday.
