Keane and Doyle on target for their clubs

Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle bagged a precious winner for Wolves over the weekend and his international colleague Robbie Keane was also amongst the scorers in the English Premier League.

Doyle has endured a frustrating campaign at Molineux, a lot of which can be attributed to the injury he sustained last year, but his first goal since October sealed a vital first victory in nine for Mick McCarthy's side at QPR.

The home side led at Loftus Road before Wolves equalised and substitute Doyle made it 2-1 with a low shot on the turn past goalkeeper Paddy Kenny 20 minutes from full-time.

Also on target in Saturday's series of games were former Ireland Under-21 international Anthony Pilkington in Norwich City's victory over Bolton Wanderers while another winger, James McClean, collected his third goal of the season for Sunderland in their 1-0 triumph at Stoke City.

On Sunday, Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane collected his third Premier League goal in as many games as his Aston Villa side visited Newcastle United. Keane's equaliser wasn't enough for Villa to claim anything from the game as they lost 2-1.

In Scottish FA Cup action, ex-Sligo Rovers forward Eoin Doyle netted the only goal of Hibernian's tie against Kilmarnock while Ireland Under-21 defender Gavin Gunning set Dundee United on the way to a 2-0 success over Rangers with the opener at Ibrox.
