Coach Education

The Coach Education Unit of the FAI Technical Department oversee all stages of the coaching ladder, from the introductory Kick-Start 1 course up to the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest point of the coaching ladder.

With the original dates for the course curriculum suffering from the heavy snowfall earlier in January this year it was probably somewhat inevitable that the sun would shine during the final practical assessments of the latest FAI UEFA "B" Licence Coaching Course.

In conjunction with the FAI Festival of Football in the lead up to the AGM in Wexford, which will run from Monday, August 16th, the FAI Coach Education Department will also hold a "Festival of Coach Education" at Bunclody Football Club, Bunclody, Co Wexford.

Last week in the Grand Hotel Malahide, the 14 participants of the second FAI/UEFA Pro Licence came together for an intensive 5 day residential course. The week was a mix of guest presentations and discussion groups on topics such as fitness and conditioning, the role of the chairman at a club, managing the modern professional, personality profiling, dealing with the media, match analysis, and the process of player recruitment.
