Sean McDermott

Date of Birth: 30/05/1993
Sean_mcdermott Goalkeeper. Norwegian-born but Sean declared for Ireland at Under-15 level through his father who is from Donegal.

Strong form for Ireland and his local club IK Våg earned Sean a contract with English Premier League club Arsenal in July 2009.

Alan Smith

Date of Birth: 25/05/1993
Alan_Smith Goalkeeper. The Cork native broke into the international set-up while playing for the FAI U15 development squad in the Hibernia Cup tournament. His height and agility make him a real prospect and he won his first Under-17 cap of the season against Hungary in February 2010.

Michael Barker

Michael_Barker Defender. Michael has been the regular right-back in the team this season and can also operate in central defence.

Joined Belvedere from Shelbourne and won an Under-13 SFAI Kennedy Cup winners' medal for the DDSL at Under-13 level.

Richard Bryan

Richard_Bryan Defender. English-born Richard is a stylish centre-half who has formed a solid partnership at the back with captain Sean McGinty.

The Aston Villa man's tough tackling has been a major asset for Ireland this season as he's started all eight internationals to date.

Sean_McGinty Defender. Sean was appointed captain of the team this season and his leadership traits have proved vital.

A composed and classy centre-back, he was born in London only to declare for Ireland through his Mayo grandfather and has worn the Green jersey from Under-15 level. Was also capped at Under-17 last season.

Derrick Williams

Derrick_Williams Full-back/midfield. Derrick is a highly-regarded player with a terrific left foot and was signed by Villa last summer from Tramore in Waterford.

Injuries had ruled him out of the previous international fixtures this term but his talent and set-piece prowess will be crucial for Ireland in these elite qualifiers.

Neil Yadolahi

Neil_Yadolahi Defender. A tall defender, Neil is versatile enough to play centre-half or full-back.

Kevin Knight

Kevin_Knight Full-back/midfield. Kevin recovered from a pre-season ankle injury in time to take his place in the Irish squad for the UEFA first phase qualifiers last September.

Equally at home on the left-wing or as a defender, the former St. Joseph's Boys product is an important member of the squad.

Carl McHugh

Carl_McHugh Midfielder. The latest in a long line of Irish youngsters at Reading, Carl came to prominence with his local Donegal club, Dungloe Town. Captained the FAI Development squad to the U15 Hibernia Cup and the strong, athletic midfielder can also play as a full-back.

George Smith

George_Smith Midfielder. Qualifies for Ireland through parentage, George is the nephew of World Cup winner Martin Peters.

An established figure in the Ireland side this season, Smith is a creative midfielder possessing an array of tricks in his locker.

Frankie Sutherland

Date of Birth: 06/12/1993
Frankie_2 Midfielder. Declared for Ireland last summer through his Donegal grandparents, Frankie scored on his international debut against Russia in September.

Reproduced his dead-ball skills to devastating effect with a wonderful opener against Hungary in February. Has already lined out for QPR's reserve team.

Shane Byrne

Shane_Byrne Midfielder. Shane is the driving force of the Irish midfielder with his bustling, energetic style.

A frequent goalscorer for the Under-16s last season, the former Crumlin United player got off the mark in the 4-1 win over Romania last September.

Anton Rodgers

Anton_Rodgers Midfielder. Compact and precise with his passing, Anton has blossomed on the international stage this season, having first represented Ireland at Under-15 level.

Son of former Reading manager, Brendan Rodgers, Anton has been on the books of Chelsea for many years and is undergoing his first season in full-time training with the club.

Sean Murray

Sean_Murray_2 Midfielder. Has recently landed a two-year contract extension at Watford, Sean was part of the Hornets side which knocked Liverpool out of this season's FA Youth Cup.

Capped for the first time against Hungary in February after declaring for Ireland through parentage.


David Murphy

David_Murphy Striker. The Wexford youth netted the winner against Wales' Under-16s last season but missed a large chunk of this term with a serious knee injury.

Returned in February for the double-header friendly against Hungary and showed enough to retain his place for the qualifiers.

Aiden O'Brien

Date of Birth: 04/10/1993
Aiden_OBrien Striker. Highly regarded at his club, Aiden made an instant impact on international duty this season by confirming Ireland's qualification from the UEFA first phase pool with a late winner against Latvia.

A knock ruled him out of the February double-header against Hungary but has since proved his fitness.

Daniel Purdy

West Ham

Daniel_Purdy Striker. A nippy forward with an eye for goal, Daniel is Ireland's joint-leading scorer this season with three goals, including winning strikes against Bulgaria and Hungary.

Son of former Ireland U21 international Richie, the striker has flourished at West Ham since joining from Crumlin United, spearheading their FA Youth Cup tilt this season.

Michael Keane

Michael_Keane Defender. The most recent call-up to the squad, Manchester-born Michael is eligible for Ireland through his father from Dublin.

A reliable defender, Michael has made great strides at Old Trafford in this, his first full campaign at the club.
