Republic of Ireland manager, Giovanni Trapattoni, today (Tuesday July 27) announced a 28 man squad who will take on Argentina in the first international game in Aviva stadium on August 11 (kick off 7.45pm).


The list includes eleven players who took part in the summer training camp in May with Cillian Sheridan joining the squad after the Under 21 game against Estonia on August 10. The squad also sees the return of Manchester City's Shay Given who has recovered from injury.

Giovanni Trapattoni said, "It will be a special occasion for everyone to be involved in the first ever game in Aviva stadium and Argentina will be a test for our players. The game comes at a crucial time in our preparation for the European Championship qualifying campaign and we must use it to strengthen our squad for the opening qualifiers against Armenia and Andorra in September."
