Sligo Rovers were in control of Group One of the Setanta Sports Cup before this tie and they confirmed their right to a place in the knock-out semi-finals with a facile win over Cliftonville at the Showgrounds.

They were forced to wait until the 39th minute for their opening goal which came from midfielder Danny Ventre. Once in front they afforded Cliftonville few chances of a come-back.

Sligo ensured they went in with a 2-0 half-time lead when Eoin Doyle took advantage of good play by Matt Blinkhorn to score in added time.

Sligo Rovers added a third in the closing minutes when Blinkhorn again was the provider as striker Padraig Amond wrapped it all up.
