Government Chief Whip visits the National Irish Bank FAI Summer Soccer School in Finglas

Government Chief Whip, Pat Carey TD dropped by the National Irish Bank FAI Summer Soccer School at Leisure Point Sports and Leisure Centre, Finglas, on Friday to lend his support to the programme.

Over 60 young boys and girls are taking part in the FAI Summer Soccer School in Finglas this week where they are learning to control, head, chest, pass and shoot in a friendly and fun environment under the supervision of FAI Accredited coaches.

Each participant received a ball, bottle, backpack, full quality Umbro kit, a free season pass to their preferred or local eircom league of Ireland club and certificate of participation.

National Irish Bank were also present and were represented by Anne Martina Quigley, Branch Manager Finglas, and Brian O’Driscoll, Head of Personal Banking for the Dublin Region.

Speaking at the camp FAI Technical Department Manager, Miriam Malone said “The FAI are delighted to be playing a major role in the Finglas area in the development of children and local communities through football.

“The FAI Summer Soccer School here at Leisure Point is a great example of this and involved our local FAI Development Officer Paul Whelan working closely with a number of local groups and agencies to create a well organised camp and a really memorable football week for all the participants.

“We were delighted Government Chief Whip Pat Carey T.D could be with us this morning. Pat has been a champion of Community Development in Finglas for over a generation and his visit to the camp was inspiring for the participants and coaches alike.”

The camp at Leisure Point is one of 270 camps taking place nationwide this summer as part of the FAI Summer Soccer School Programme. They are open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 & 15.

Places are still available however the camps are ‘Advance Bookings Only’ so parents are advised to pre book quickly to avoid disappointment.
