“We are delighted that such an experienced coach as Marco Tardelli has agreed to join Giovanni Trapattoni’s backroom team,” said FAI President David Blood.

Tardelli was a member of Italy’s 1982 World Cup winning team and scored in the final against West Germany. He played under Trapattoni at Juventus and managed Italy to the European U21 title in 2000.

He also managed Inter Milan, Bari and Arezzo in the Italy as well as the national team of Egypt.

Tardelli met with FAI representatives in Milan on Tuesday and has agreed a two year contract.
