The Aviva FAI Soccer Sisters is a programme for 7 - 11 year old girls created under the ‘Introduction to Football' banner, with the aim of increasing the number of girls playing football and utilising indoor facilities countrywide. Played at venues around the country, girls can learn to play football in a fun, friendly and safe environment.
Through this programme children are introduced to basic movement and football skills. They learn the disciplines and fundamental rules of the game and are also encouraged to forge new friendships and develop interpersonal skills.
Participants on the camps are encouraged and facilitated to play for local clubs.
Originally created as a programme run over a ten-week period where girls could avail of coaching on a weekly basis, 2009 saw the launch of the first Aviva FAI Soccer Sisters Easter Camps. A total of 49 camps were held, with 1,385 girls participating! Each player received an exclusive pink FAI Soccer Sisters kit and water bottle for taking part in the camp.
The Aviva Soccer Sisters Easter Camps are run for 3 hours per day for 4 days during the schools' Easter holidays. In 2010, camps will run countrywide from March 29th until April 1st (see below for complete list of venues).
