The Football Association of Ireland is committed to ensuring that all children who participate in our sport are able to do so in a safe and fun environment.
The FAI was the first National sports governing body in Ireland to appoint a national children's officer and in June 2009, we published a Code of Ethics and Good Practice for children's football. This policy which was introduced at the request of the FAI Board, stipulates requirements at club and league level in relation to safe recruitment practice, safety, complaints procedures, bullying and burnout as well as providing a code of conduct for parents and for coaches.Under the code, all clubs and Leagues must appoint a children's officer to ensure that the requirments of this policy are met. This policy document is now also incorporated into FAI rules and aims to guide and support the dedicated volunteers who deliver our game to 450,000 active participants nationwide.
