
The FAI in partnership with UEFA is providing €650,000 for the provision of multi-sport mini-pitches in the community. Guidelines and application forms were sent to local authorities and RAPID Co-ordinators in July 2006.
64 applications from local authorities were received and through negotiations with the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism, a further €1.6 million in Departmental support was allocated to enable a grant of €35,000 be allocated to all of local authority applications. Â
The mini-pitch facility was first piloted by the FAI, in conjunction with UEFA at St. Catherine’s development in Dublin City and continues to be proving a great success.Â
The Mini Pitch Programme is progressing very well with 56 completed and the remaining 8 are expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
