Floodlight Development

The Football Association of Ireland is working with clubs to bring to their attention a significant commercial opportunity with a blue chip company called Shared Access. In early July, letters and emails were sent to every club and league secretary in the country outlining the scheme.

Shared Access

Shared Access is a private, well capitalised Irish company which manages communications infrastructure for wireless operators at major Irish developments such as Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin Port Tunnel and sports stadia such as Thomond Park, Musgrave Park amongst others.

The company approached the FAI because they feel that mutually beneficial agreements can be reached that would assist clubs in the development of their infrastructure.

The Shared Access proposal to clubs:

Should a clubs location prove suitable and they agree to host their infrastructure Shared Access will deliver a turnkey floodlighting solution at clubs which meets and in some cases exceeds relevant regional and grassroots competition standards.

As well as creating a valuable improvement for Club's facilities, the development will also provide an annual income with a significant share of the rental revenue given directly to the Club by Shared Access.

If a club already has floodlights, Shared Access would still like the opportunity to discuss development options with them, which could include a significant, upfront capital contribution to the Club, and also a share in the annual rental revenues accrued by Shared Access.

I am interested in finding out more, what are the next steps

Clubs that complete and return the form on or before 31st July will be entered into a draw to win one of ten Umbro Vouchers provided by Shared Access to the value of €500.

In summary, this is potentially a great opportunity for clubs to benefit from a significant capital investment with the added benefit of a long term annual rental income. There is no obligation on clubs to enter into an agreement with Shared Access and any agreement will purely be between the club and Shared Access.

For further information and to register an interest in the programme clubs are asked to visit www.fai.ie/sharedaccess and to complete the online enquiry form, which will only take a few minutes.
