The FAI Emerging Talent Programme Under-14s are to take part in the Actavo Cup at Cherry Orchard this weekend.
13th Sep 2018

The tournament will see the team play in Group 2 in the eight-team tournament alongside Newcastle United, Celtic and St. Patrick's Athletic.

Group 1 features hosts Cherry Orchard, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Swansea City.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, ETP National Co-Ordinator Niall Harrison said he was looking forward to seeing the team face high-class opposition.

"This being the first time that the FAI have entered an Under-14 group into a tournament event. The players have been selected from the National 2005 Academy and have been part of a larger training group since December 2017.

In accordance with competition regulations, we have not selected any players from DDSL clubs. Therefore, this is not a full National group but a selection of players currently training in the National Academy which is part of the Emerging Talent Programme."

Players from nine ETP Centres of Excellence have been named in the squad.

The FAI ETP begin the tournament against St. Patrick's Athletic, on Friday evening at 4.30pm in Elmdale Park. Om Saturday, the side will face Celtic (10.30am) and Newcastle United (3.15pm)

The Finals take place on Sunday, with the Actavo Cup Final scheduled for 3pm.
