Applications open for Sports Capital Programme

Applications opened for the 2018 Sports Capital Programme on Friday afternoon.
7th Sep 2018

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport announced last month that €40million will be made available to different sports around the country.

Last year, over 2,300 applications were made across 45 different sports, with over 230 football clubs receiving grants, totalling over €7.25million.

FAI Facilities Development Manager Walter Holleran says clubs have only six weeks to make their application.

“The Application Window opened on Friday morning and closes on October 19th. I would encourage all clubs to have all their documents ready as early as possible.

“Six weeks may seem long, but the process can be time consuming and it’s safer to have all documents ready long before the closing date.

"The FAI works closely with Minister Shane Ross, Minister for State Brendan Griffin and their colleagues in the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. We are delighted they continue to make such a financial commitment to sport in Ireland.

Workshops will take place to help clubs submit their applications and understand the criteria. Dates will be announced in the coming weeks, and all clubs are encouraged to attend.

The guide to making an application is now available on the the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport website on www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie

Registrations will close at 5pm on Friday, October 19.
