The oldest football competition in Ireland, the FAI Senior Cup is the Blue Riband event for clubs in Ireland. Clubs from the Airtricity League compete with junior and intermediate clubs in a competition that dates back to 1922.

The current holders of the competition are St Patrick's Athletic, who beat Derry City in the final at the Aviva Stadium on November 2, 2014. Christy Fagan scored twice to help bring the cup back to Inchicore for the first time since 1961.
