Sligo Rovers  1 - 2  St. Patrick's Athletic
Aggregate: St. Patrick's Athletic won 6 - 2
St. Patrick's Athletic completed their victory over Sligo Rovers in the semi-final of the Setanta Sports Cup by winning the second leg 2 - 1 at the Showgrounds.
St. Pat's had to come from behind to win this second leg after Con O'Grady had given Sligo an early lead. They did so with authority to complete a comprehensive 6 - 2 aggregate win.
The second semi-final is being contested by Bohemians and Linfield with Bohs holding a 2 - 1 lead after the first leg. The second leg will be played at Windsor Park on Monday.
St. Pat's showed all the confidence you would expect of a team enjoying a great run since the start of the season. They were rocked on their heels when team captain O'Grady within ten minutes of the start of the match.
The goal cut the aggregate deficit to 2 - 4 and raised Sligo's hopes of getting back into the tie. They needed a second goal quickly to sustain these hopes.
Instead St. Pat's responded decisively and wiped out O'Grady's goal within thirteen minutes. Paul Byrne claimed the goal, lifting a shot over his shoulder after David McAllister had headed a pass to him.
Sligo were shaken by St. Pat's quick response and the tie was decided beyond question when Damien Lynch scored on 59 minutes to firmly close the door on Sligo.
