DDSL and Cork Youth League to contest FAI Umbro Inter League Final

DDSL and Cork Youth League to contest FAI Umbro Inter League Final

The Dublin District Schoolboy’s League and the Cork Youth League will renew their rivalry at Tolka Park at 3pm on Sunday when they face each other in the FAI Umbro Youth Inter League Cup Final.

Both sides came through tough semi finals with both teams winning by a single goal as the DDSL overcame the Galway & District League  2-1 and Cork were pushed all the way by the Waterford & District League winning 1-0.

The two sides have enjoyed a healthy rivalry in recent years with Cork knocking the DDSL out of the competition at the quarter final stage in 2010 winning 3-1 and again at the semi final stage in 2011 winning 2-1.

Cork manager, Frank Kelleher, will not struggle to motivate his players as his side were defeated in last year’s final when they lost out 4-2 to the Kilkenny & District League after extra time. On the other hand the DDSL manager, Rory Kerr, will be able to draw on the pain of defeat to Sunday’s opposition in the previous two years.

Considering how much is at stake along with the rivalry between the two sides and the quality of the players involved it should be a very interesting 90 minutes at Tolka Park on Sunday.
