Michael Ward Trophy: Munster SL 1 Ulster SL 0

CHRISTOPHER BUTT’S second half goal sealed victory for the Munster Senior League in their Michael Ward Cup clash with the Ulster Senior League.

Butt’s strike means Munster have two wins from two and only need a draw from their clash with the Leinster Senior League at Turner’s tomorrow to retain their trophy.

Munster had a couple of chances to open the scoring in the first half, Ronan Stanton, going close on 27 minutes while Ian Stapleton saw his shot go over 10 minutes before the interval.

At the other end keeper Michael Devine made a number of fine saves in both halves.

The MSL had a couple of penalty shouts waved away in the second half before Butt popped up in the 80^th minute to score the winner.
