Derry City to meet St Patrick's Athletic in FAI Ford Cup Final
Derry City will meet St Patrick's Athletic in the 2012 FAI Ford Cup Final on Sunday, November 4, in what will be a repeat of the 2006 final.
Derry won tonight's semi-final replay at Tolka Park when they beat last year's runners-up Shelbourne, 3-0, thanks to two goals from Stephen McLaughlin and one from David McDaid.Immediately after the game, the toss was made to determine the order of the teams for the final and Derry won that as well. They will play the final in their first choice colours and also use the home dressing room at the Aviva Stadium.
The 2006 encounter between the sides saw Derry win 4-3 after extra-time in what was the last soccer match played at the old Lansdowne Road stadium. This year's final will be a first appearance at the Aviva Stadium for both clubs.
