FAI Ford Senior Cup

The oldest football competition in Ireland, the FAI Senior Cup is the Blue Riband event for clubs in Ireland. Clubs from the Airtricity League compete with junior and intermediate clubs in a competition that dates back to 1922.

The current holders of the competition are Derry City who beat St Patrick's Athletic 3-2 after extra-time in the final at the Aviva Stadium on November 4, 2012. Derry have now won the FAI Cup five times.

A place in the final of the 2012 FAI Ford Cup Final is the prize on offer at Tolka Park when Shelbourne and Derry City meet in their semi-final replay (8pm).

Buttimer to referee FAI Ford Cup semi-final replay

Referee Anthony Buttimer will take charge of tomorrow night's FAI Ford Cup semi-final replay between Shelbourne and Derry City at Tolka Park (8pm). The sides drew 1-1 at the Brandywell on Sunday afternoon. His assistants will be Ken Hennessey and Andrew Maher and the Fourth Official is Paul Tuite. In the event of the scores being level after 90 minutes of play, then extra-time of 30 minutes shall be played. If the scores are still level, a penalty shoot-out will take place to determine the winners of the tie. The winners will play St Patrick's Athletic in the FAI Ford Cup Final on Sunday, November 4 at the Aviva Stadium.

St Pat's must wait until Wednesday for FAI Ford Cup Final opponents

  St Patrick's Athletic have qualified for the 2012 FAI Ford Cup Final but they must wait until Wednesday evening to know the identity of their opponents. St Pat's beat Dundalk 3-0 at Oriel Park with goals from Kenny Browne, Greg Bolger and Sean O'Connor to reach their first final since 2006 and are looking to lift the cup for the first time since 1961. The other semi-final saw Derry City and Shelbourne drew 1-1 at the Brandywell after David McDaid second half goal cancelled out an early opener by Shels captain David Cassidy. Their replay will take place on Wednesday at 8pm in Tolka Park with extra time and penalties if required. The final will take place at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, November 4, at 3.30pm.
