UEFA draws throw up ties for Airtricity League clubs
SHAMROCK ROVERS were today drawn against Lithuanian champions FK Ekranas in the UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round draw. The Airtricity League champions will be at home first (July 17 or 18) and the second legs will be played on July 24 or 25.
FK Ekranas have won the Lithuanian title for each of the past four seasons and were eliminated from the UEFA Cup by Cork City in 2005. In the UEFA Europa League First qualifying round draw, Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic each drew Icelandic opposition.
The Gypsies were paired with Thór Akureyri while St Pat's will meet ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar. The matches are to be played on July 5 and July 12 but these dates are to be confirmed. Should Bohs win their Second Qualifying Round opponents would be FK Mladá Boleslav of the Czech Republic while St Pat's would progress to meet Bosnian outfit NK Široki Brijeg.
Sligo Rovers were paired with Slovakian side FC Spartak Trnava in the Second Qualifying Round draw. The Bit O'Red will be away in the first leg. The Second Qualifying Round ties will take place on July 19 and 26.
