Liam Kelly to manage PFAI team

The Players Football Association of Ireland (PFAI) have appointed Liam Kelly as the manager of the PFAI League of Ireland squad which will take part in the FIFPro Scandinavian Tournament in Oslo, Norway on Friday 14 January 2011.

The tournament will also feature out of contract players from Norway, Denmark and Finland. There will be four games of 25 minutes per half; two semi-finals, a final and a 3rd/4th place play-off.

Over 80 players who are out of contract have expressed an interest in participating in this tournament. Liam Kelly along with Coach Trevor Crolly will name a 16/18 man squad in January.

Stephen McGuinness of the PFAI said: "FIFPro have successfully organised tournaments during the summer for the past few years and we felt that for the countries who operate in a 'summer season' we needed to provide our players with a vehicle to showcase their talents and earn a full time professional contract."

Liam Kelly said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for the players and I'm delighted to be involved and working with some of the best players in the country."
